Roger, deputy to the National People’s Congress: In the fight against the epidemic, the "post-90 s" is the surging "post-wave"

On May 22nd, the first "representative channel" interview activity of the Third Session of the 13th National People’s Congress was held, and some NPC deputies were interviewed by the media through online video.

CCTV reporter: Roger stands for hello. We know that decisive results can be achieved in defending the COVID-19 epidemic in Hubei Province. It should be said that we can’t do without the vast number of medical workers like you who have been fighting in the front line of epidemic prevention and control. First of all, we would like to express our respect to you. Please share your impressive rescue experience and anti-epidemic feeling during this period, especially in Hubei.

Roger, deputy to the National People’s Congress, secretary of the Party Committee and president of taihe hospital, Hubei Province: As you all know, this time Hubei is the decisive place to fight against the epidemic. My colleagues, more than 500,000 medical staff in Hubei and 43,000 medical teams from all over the country are fighting together in the front line of fighting against the epidemic. As we all know, COVID-19 is very dangerous and difficult to treat, especially for the elderly patients with basic diseases in the past.

Roger: In our rescue work, there was such a case that we couldn’t forget. That is an 87-year-old elderly patient diagnosed as COVID-19, who has many basic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. When he was admitted to the hospital, he had trouble breathing, and his breathing was severe. He himself thought that he was running out of luck. After admission, we equipped him with a special treatment class of nine people, including a chief physician, a resident, a Chinese medicine doctor, four nurses, a nutritionist and a psychological counselor. Everyone tried their best to treat him. During the 47-day hospitalization, the old man’s illness was repeated many times, and every time we tried our best to turn him around. On March 22nd, the old man was discharged from hospital. He excitedly took our hands and said, Thank you for saving my life.

Roger: In Hubei, we have successfully treated more than 3,600 elderly patients with COVID-19 over 80 years old, including 7 elderly people over 100 years old. We protect every life wholeheartedly.

Roger: There are indeed many feelings in the rescue work. One of them is to sit up and take notice of the post-90s generation. It is the seven "gourd babies" in the respiratory department of our hospital that make me change this way. They are seven "post-90s" male nurses. They are smart and skilled in nursing technology. In this anti-epidemic, they volunteered to fight together and went to the front line together. In the isolation ward, they not only dispensed medicines and injections, but also ventilated the critically ill patients in bed and prone position. In addition, they also undertake additional work such as clearing and transporting garbage. According to the regulations, people who work in isolation wards should take turns to rest once every four hours, while they work continuously for more than seven hours at a time. After each time they come out, all the clothes under the protective clothing are soaked. After 14 days of intensive fighting in the isolation ward, they only rested for 5 days and asked to return to the front again. In the past, I always thought that the "post-90 s" were children who didn’t grow up. This time, at the critical moment, they proved that they were a responsible generation, they were the surging "post-waves" and they were the future and hope of the country.

Roger: In addition, there is another deep feeling, that is, people are United and Mount Tai moves. With the support of the people of the whole country, the Hubei Defence War has achieved decisive results after three months of hard work. Hubei people will never forget the truckloads of vegetables and fruits shipped from all parts of the motherland in those days; The 61 million people in Jingchu will never forget every mask and protective clothing sent from all over the world in our most difficult time. We will never forget that the 43,000 medical team members who rushed to help Hubei, you worked hard for us, thank you, and thank everyone who helped Hubei.

Roger: Here, journalists and friends are welcome to take a look at Hubei, and see the vitality and aura that are recovering under the prevention and control of normalized epidemic. Through you, we also invite those who have helped us, supported us and cared about us to come to Hubei for a look and see Hubei, which is recovering aura and beauty.

China students tell about the anti-"Hong Kong independence" parade.

Our reporter Zhang Xueting.

The violent demonstrations in Hongkong in recent days have touched the hearts of China compatriots at home and abroad. In mid-August, overseas students and overseas Chinese from all over the world spontaneously organized patriotic demonstrations against "Hong Kong independence", which became the focus of the media. They showed their faces aboveboard, held the five-star red flag, and sang March of the Volunteers and Chinese pop songs enthusiastically and peacefully, in sharp contrast to the masked mobs in black who created chaos in Hong Kong. How are these students organized? What do they think of the parade and their future actions? The Global Times reporter recently contacted several international students who participated in the parade and learned some of their experiences and mentality in participating in the event.

Hundreds of strangers gather on WeChat group.

"Classmate, can you help me get into the group? It has exceeded 100 people." "The number of people is up! Seek to open a new group! " This is a comment that the Global Times reporter saw under a WeChat account about the precautions of Toronto’s anti-"Hong Kong independence" demonstration. Through introduction, the reporter joined a WeChat group named "London Anti-Hong Kong Independence Parade is Rational and Patriotic". There are more than 160 members in the group, and the group announcement repeatedly reminds everyone "don’t make excessive remarks" and "non-violence against Hong Kong independence".

"These group members are all spontaneously gathered, and there is no unified organizer or leader. Adding a group is also word of mouth, and there is no call or coercion. Some people will be more responsible for some of the work, but everyone will discuss and plan together. " China student, whose net name is "Shark", is studying in Toronto. In his spare time, he started his own business in electronic product consultation and was responsible for more preparations for the parade in front of the old city hall in Toronto. Before the March on the 17th, he posted the notice of activities and precautions on the official website where he usually started his own business. "Although things have happened in Hong Kong for a long time, many people here have only really paid attention to the incident that Global Times reporter Fu Guohao was beaten by thugs. At the beginning, some students saw the poster of’ Hong Kong independence’ propaganda in five major cities in Canada on August 17, so we decided to speak for our country. " He told reporters that as far as he knows, there are at least a dozen large groups of more than 400 people preparing for the parade around the world.

In fact, China students and overseas Chinese have long been known for their low-key and non-political image, and they often avoid talking about words like "procession". This time, such a large-scale patriotic activity was held, and many students said that it was because all international students had a common ambition. "Shark" told reporters: "Some western media have smeared China for decades and have become the leading international public opinion. We want to erase these false labels, and we don’t want to be rejected by local people, and we don’t want to put our motherland in danger. "

However, because everyone in the group doesn’t know each other, it is inevitable that there will be "spies". "This situation has also happened in our previous anti-Tibet independence activities," said Shark. "They sent screenshots to some anti-China media, accusing us of being’ China spies’ and’ led by the China Consulate’. However, we are really all international students without any official background, and we are also very sad why some compatriots will’ betray’. "

Peaceful parade, quality parade

"From building a group to marching, it will take three or four days. I joined late and only had one day to prepare." Yao, who participated in the parade in Parliament Square in London (pictured), told the Global Times reporter that the planning time before and after the whole event was very short. Yao is studying at King’s College London, which happens to be the exam week. "We don’t want to affect our studies, so we all try our best to get the best results in the most convenient way." Yao said that many people printed national flags and slogans on A4 paper, and if possible, they brought large national flags. Some students suggested wearing red clothes.

"Shark" recalled that everyone bought flags and clothes at their own expense, paid their own fares, and had no external funds. "Our participants are from Hamilton, 70 kilometers from Toronto, Waterloo, 100 kilometers from Canada, and London, 200 kilometers from Canada. Our peers will take a ride together."

What is more important than materials is the unanimous commitment of these students to the "peaceful March". In the "Safety Brochure" of the Toronto Parade released by "Shark", it was repeatedly emphasized not to clash with "Hong Kong independence" elements: "If there is a riot, disperse immediately; Save the video evidence to prevent the media from smearing; Keep group activities and don’t be alone. " The manual also reminds everyone to clean up the garbage and not to bother the local police and many other details. Yao told reporters that everyone kept reminding us to "March for quality" in the group: "Never swear and shout slogans just right. After the parade, we also thanked the police for maintaining order. "

"I hope there won’t be a next time."

On 17th, in demonstrations around the world, the number of patriotic parades composed of China students and overseas Chinese almost "crushed" their opponents. "Shark" said that there were about 100 people on both sides at that time. Yao said that their team of international students is about 300, far exceeding the other dozens. However, with enthusiasm, they are also rethinking what to do next.

"Because of the hasty preparation, we are actually not as good as those’ Hong Kong independence’ elements in publicity." Mr. Yao told the Global Times reporter that many students focused on expressing their positions, but neglected the publicity. First, they did not publicize in English. Second, the so-called "freedom and democracy" claimed by "Hong Kong independence" elements may be more easily accepted by the West. "Sharks" said that because they were worried about disturbing the surrounding area, they didn’t bring horns, which led to a slightly weaker momentum. He said that there are some foreigners in the "Hong Kong independence" team, and they are often pulled by the roadside to shout slogans together. It is worth mentioning that Mr. Yao noticed that some elderly British people expressed their support for overseas students. "Some of them experienced the May storm and the Vietnam War, and their life experiences were richer and they knew more about China.".

The reporter noticed that, unlike the black thugs in Hong Kong, the international students who participated in the patriotic parade showed their faces openly. Earlier, some "Hong Kong independence" elements threatened on the Internet to write down the appearance of participating students, search them for human flesh and report to the school. Are these students worried about the negative impact of participating in the parade? Yao did not hesitate to say that he had worked as a league secretary in a domestic university. "If you don’t stand up now, who will speak for us in the future?" "Shark" said that some people in the "Hong Kong independence" group demonstrating in Canada also wore masks, which had violated Canadian laws and the police had the right to detain them. On the other hand, international students marched legally and expressed their position. "I believe the local government will protect our rights and personal safety."

A demonstration can’t stop "Hong Kong independence" elements from continuing to be "demons". In this regard, the international students interviewed by the Global Times reporter said that they would not focus on the parade. "Shark" believes that everyone is far away from home after all, and some mature students who have the ability can stand up; Students who are unfamiliar with environmental and political events should still pay attention to their own safety. Yao said frankly, "If there is another activity, I will attend it again, but I hope there won’t be another one.".

Many overseas students have reported that Chinese’s voice has always been at a disadvantage in the international public opinion field. Many students believe that in their future study abroad life, they should start from themselves, not only express their positions, but also pay attention to ways and means to make them acceptable to the international community. "I study international relations," said Yao. "I want to let everyone know more about China through the communication with teachers and classmates in class. Although a person’s strength is thin, I can do it myself. "
